Dr. Chen is an Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and the President of Zhejiang Sci-Tech University. He also serves as the convenor of the Textile Science and Engineering Group of the Eighth Academic Degree Committee of The State Council, the deputy director of the Textile Teaching Steering Committee of higher Education institutions of the Ministry of Education, the vice chairman of the International Silk Union and the director of the Education Science and Technology Committee. He is mainly engaged in the research of fiber material manufacturing technology, especially for silk and chemical fiber. He has published 1 textbook, more than 350 research articles and been authorized over 70 Chinese invention patents. As the first completed person, he won 1 second prize of National Invention Awards, 1 second prize of National Science and Technology Progress Awards, Ho Leung Ho Lee Foundation Award, Sangma Scholar Award, National Business Federation Top Technology Award of China, and was awarded the national outstanding professional and technical talents.
