Dr. Li is a chair and full professor of Textile Science and Engineering in the Department of Materials, School of Natural Science, the University of Manchester. He is a Life-Fellow of Royal Society of Art and International Biographical Association and Fellow of the Textile Institute. He is the Chairman of Textile Bioengineering and Informatics Society and Editor-in-Chief of “Journal of Fiber Bioengineering and Informatics”. He has supervised over 65 PhD students and more than 150 research personnel. He has over 600 scientific publications with 17189 citations and h-index of 69 and i10-index 274. He is recognized as a 2022 global top 2% Scientist by Elsevier-Scopus. He has more than 56 awards for outstanding research papers, patent inventions and technology transfer. He owns more than 46 patents granted in USA, China, and Australia and 30 IP properties transferred to industry, some of which have been developed as national and international testing standards and commercialized internationally.
