Dr. Zhang is a professor and doctoral supervisor in the School of Civil Aviation, Northwestern Polytechnical University. His research direction lies in the fields of multi-scale mechanics of composite materials, impact dynamics, and strength of aerospace engines structures. Dr. Zhang has presided over more than 20 scientific research projects (4 from NSFC). He is a recipient of the National High-level Talent Youth Program, Shaanxi Youth Scientist Award and National Outstanding Young Scholar in Explosive Mechanics, etc. Dr. Zhang has published more than 120 research papers, with Google Citations over 3000. His research achievements have significantly contributed to the development of domestic aerospace engine models such as CJ1000-A and the latest generation of aircrafts. He serves as the Associate Editor or editorial board member of several scientific journals, e.g. CME, AMS, CJA and JAE etc., and an active member of the Chinese Society for Composite Materials and the Chinese Society of Theoretical and Applied Mechanics.
