Dr. Liu is a professor in the Nonwovens Department of Wuhan Textile University, an expert receiving special allowance from The State Council, the Deputy Chairman of Microfiber Branch of China Society for Composite Materials (CSFCM), the Deputy Chairman of Electrospinning Special Committee of China Industrial Textiles Association, a senior member of China Textile Engineering Society. Her research interests include electrospinning technology principles, equipment, micro/nanofiber-based composite nonwoven materials, and nanofiber-based aerogels for oil adsorption and oil/water separation, etc. She was awarded with many titles such as 2011 Talent of Innovation and Entrepreneurship by Jiangsu Province Organization Department, and 2020 Distinguished Teacher of Textile Light by China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC). She has published more than 100 papers, and she has been granted with more than 20 domestic and international patents. She has won the first and second prizes of Tianjin Science and Technology Progress, the third prize of Jiangsu Science and Technology, the first prize of Science and Technology Progress and the special prize and second prize of Teaching Achievement Award of China National Textile and Apparel Council (CNTAC).
