Dr. Dong is a principal investigator and doctoral supervisor of Beijing Institute of Nanoenergy and Nanosystems (BINN), Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS). He is also the Chief Director of the Smart Textiles Lab in BINN. He focuses on the mechanical-to-electrical conversion fiber/textile materials based on the piezoelectric or triboelectric effects, his main research direction includes the contact

electrification mechanism, electrical output performance improvement, and the intelligent integrated applications of the mechanical-to-electrical conversion fiber/textile materials. So far, he has published more than 80 papers in esteemed journals, including Nature Communications, Science Advances, Advanced Materials, etc., with a total of 6400 citations and an H-index of 40. He has led more than 10 projects from National Natural Science Foundation of China, Natural Science Foundation of Beijing Municipality, and Fundamental Research Funds for the Central Universities, etc. He has won International Association of Advanced Materials (IAAM) Scientist Medal, Overseas High-Level Young Scholar of Beijing, “Wang Shanyuan”Excellent Doctoral Fund, etc.
