Dr. Cai is a level-three professor and postgraduate student supervisor of Wuhan Textile University. He specializes in processing and fabricating functional and intelligent textile yarns as well as designing and preparing fiber-based intelligent wearable materials. Up to now, he has published more than 80 SCI papers in SmartMat, Chemical Engineering Journal and other journals with a total of 2000 citations

by other researchers. 2 of the published papers have been ranked as the Highly Cited Papers by the database of ESI. In recent years, he has been granted over 10 scientific research projects including the National Natural Science Foundation. He is also a holder of more than 10 national invention patents. Moreover, three projects led by him as the major participant were awarded the second prize of Technological Invention Award of Hubei Province or the Award of China National Textile and Apparel Council for Progress in Science and Technology.
