Dr. Cheng, a professor and the director of the Academic Committee of Tianjin University of Science & Technology, currently serves as the director of the State Key Laboratory of Biobased Fiber Manufacturing Technology and the invited vice chairman of the China Textile Engineering Society. He has long focused on the basic theory, key technology, and engineering research of the industrial fiber as well as nonwoven materials, to meet the critical demands of industrial textile materials in medical and health protection, energy and environmental protection, and national defense construction, etc. So far, he has won the Ho Liang Ho Lee Prize for Science and Technology Innovation Award, the National Innovation and Pioneer Award, the Special Contribution Award of China National Textile and Apparel Council (Mulberry Scholar), and China Textile Academic Award. He has also received 3 Second Class Prizes of National Award for Science and Technology Progress, 9 First Class Prizes of Provincial and Ministerial Science and Technological Progress, and he has been authorized 125 patents with 3 China Patent Excellence Awards. He has published 212 SCI papers with total citations of 12,514 times, and 10 monographs and textbooks such as Meltblown Nonwovens.
